LONDON – Recycling firm Mura Technology and its licensing partner KBR have forged a new partnership with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) to help scale the development of a chemical recycling solution for post-consumer plastics.

Hydro-PRT, the technology in question, is licensed by Mura and KBR, and could in principle enable plastics to be infinitely recyclable, but the infrastructure and expertise of MCC is first required to help the solution reach new heights in terms of capacity.

“Plastic waste is polluting our environment at an alarming rate, not to mention the carbon emissions caused by utilising the fossil fuels needed to make virgin plastics. We need global, sustainable, and scalable solutions today. That is why we are taking an international approach – to scale fast and meet the challenge head on,” said Dr Steve Mahon, CEO of Mura Technology.
