WASHINGTON – The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has held talks with the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) in an effort to “enhance cooperation” and promote Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector.

BGMEA president Faruque Hassan, who visited Washington with other senior officials to discuss closer collaborations with US companies, highlighted the “unprecedented strides” the country’s apparel sector has made to improve safety, sustainability and social compliance.

He reportedly urged the AAFA’s president and CEO, Steve Lamar, to promote Bangladesh as a safe and sustainable apparel-sourcing destination among its members and encouraged them to source more garments.
