MUMBAI – Indian textile manufacturer Welspun has updated its Wel-Trak traceability platform to provide a more comprehensive overview of a material’s lifecycle.

Whereas its first iteration, launched in 2018, relied solely on RFID tags to trace fibre from farm to fashion, Wel-Trak 2.0 leverages blockchain and cloud technologies to offer up environmental, social and governance (ESG) data such as water and power consumption, as well as factory information such as worker pay.

Dipali Goenka, CEO of Welspun India, commented: “Transparency and accountability are key factors in building the customer’s trust and this is precisely what we aim to accomplish through our upgraded multi-level traceability solution Wel-Trak 2.0.”
