DHAKA – The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dhaka’s Brac University with the view to developing an industry-wide database of the country’s garment workers.
The digital repository will build on Brac’s Mapped in Bangladesh platform, which it launched last summer enabling users to filter through factories based on the customers they have, their certifications and their manufacturing specialisms, amongst other things.
“We believe that the MoU signing reflected the commitment of BGMEA for the RMG (ready-made garment) industry of Bangladesh and BGMEA’s vision for workers,” said BGMEA president Faruque Hassan.
