WASHINGTON – The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has written to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, stressing that “the tragedy in Tigray and nearby regions must be stopped”.

The association – which represents more than 1,000 brands – says US ties are at risk unless the humanitarian crisis is solved and the country facilitates aid to those most affected by the conflict.

“The ongoing violence and strife urgently needs to be replaced by a ceasefire and talks from all sides that can lay the basis for lasting peace,” the letter to Ethiopian authorities says.
