HERZOGENAURACH - Sportswear company Puma has developed an experimental biodegradable version of its iconic Suede trainer which it will test with consumers in the new year.

Called the Re-Suede, the shoe is made from innovative sustainable materials such as Zeology-tanned suede, biodegradable thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) and hemp fibres.

Puma says it will share the insights gained from the experiment with the wider industry to achieve a bigger impact in addressing the challenge of waste management in footwear.
