MELBOURNE – The Métiers d’Art sustainability initiative of fashion giant LVMH has partnered with product authentication solutions provider Security Matters (SMX) on a series of R&D projects that will assess the performance of traceability technologies in luxury fashion supply chains.  

The hope is that by tagging raw materials with chemical markers that are identifiable throughout production, LVMH’s brands can verify their sustainability claims and eliminate the threat of counterfeiting.  

Haggai Alon, SMX’s founder and chief executive, said: “Major luxury and lifestyle brands are actively transitioning from a linear to a circular business model.”
