DUBLIN – The Ecotextile News editorial team has arrived in Dublin for Textile Exchange’s annual global conference where we are among the exhibitors and look forward to welcoming visitors to our booth.

Editor John Mowbray, assistant editor Chris Remington and senior reporter Simon Glover are at the event which is being staged in collaboration with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition for the first time.

The Textile Sustainability Conference 2021 is one of the first major industry conferences to be held in physical form since the lockdowns imposed for the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also being staged virtually so delegates have the choice of attending physically or online.

The conference, which runs until Friday 19th November, aims to explore sustainability trends, create connections and partnerships, and learn from experts on the most pressing sustainability issues facing the industry. Today's events include roundtables on animal fibres, manmade cellulosic fibres and biosynthetics, as well as a workshop on the basics of sustainability.

Tuesday's agenda includes a keynote speech from economic anthropologist Dr Jason Hickel; roundtables on recycled polyester, and sorting and chemical recycling; as well as breakout sessions on the Policy Hub, Textile Exchange standards, biodiversity, soil health, and science-based targets.

On Wednesday, the conference includes sessions on leveraging partnerships, traceability, sustainable cotton, fashion decarbonisation, science-based targets for water, regenerative agriculture and chemical management. Thursday includes a plenary session entitled 'Investing in Change', a roundtable on Textile Exchange’s Regenerative Landscape Analysis Report, and break-out sessions on preserving land to meet 'Climate+', learnings from leading regenerative agriculture initiatives, and 'COP26 and the Future of Fashion'.

The conference comes to a close on Friday, with roundtables on organic cotton and responsible leather, and a workshop entitled 'It Begins with Design'. To sign up to the event virtually, see more details HERE.
