LONDON - Campaigners have been granted High Court approval to go ahead with a landmark challenge against the UK authorities for allowing the import of cotton goods believed to have been produced with forced labour in China.

The World Uyghur Congress (WUC), with the support of the Global Legal Action Network (GLAN), was granted with permission by the High Court of England and Wales to proceed with its case which is being paid for through crowd-funding.

They argue that cotton goods produced with forced labour in the Xinjiang region of China freely enter Britain despite well-documented evidence of widespread use of forced labour involving incarcerated Uyghur Muslims.
