WASHINGTON – El Salvador’s textiles and agricultural sectors, as well as the agricultural industries of Honduras and Guatemala, will share an US$8 million grant awarded by the US Department of Labor to improve workplace health and safety in these countries.

US non-profit La Isla Network will lead on the ground efforts, addressing workplace illness and injury, to ensure best practices and adequate healthcare infrastructure.  

As part of the project, training events and workshops will also be held to educate garment workers and agricultural workers on local labour laws.
