CLERMONT-FERRAND – French recycling specialist Carbios has announced that it has succeeded in producing a 100 per cent enzymatically-recycled white PET fibre from coloured textile waste for the first time.
The news comes with the validation of the third and final technical step of Carbios' CE-PET research project, co-funded by France’s environment and energy management agency ADEME3, which Carbios leads alongside academic partner TWB.
The company has also produced the first 100 per cent recycled PET bottles from the same textile waste. These bottles have successfully now passed food contact validation tests.
