PHNOM PENH - The Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham Cambodia) which aims to increase sustainability in the country's garment industry.
One of the first moves under the agreement will be for EuroCham to set up a public training programme on sustainable textile sourcing, worker health and safety, and compliance through the Cambodian Garment Training Institute (CGTI).
This programme will be supported by the German development agency GIZ under its FABRIC project to promote sustainability and social responsibility in the Asian textile and garment industry.
