PHNOM PENH - Garment factories in Cambodia have reduced their energy and water consumption with support from the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) Cambodia Improvement Programme (CIP).
A total of 10 suppliers with cut-and-sew and garment-washing operations cut energy use by 18 per cent and water consumption by 29 per cent through resource efficiency measures in 2019 and 2020.
The IFC - part of the World Bank Group - launched the programme in Cambodia in 2019 to help garment factories increase resource efficiency and reduce operating costs, so as to mitigate climate change and boost productivity.
