BRUSSELS - Swedish fashion giant H&M and sustainable denim brand Nudie Jeans are among a coalition of companies and organisations who have signed an open letter to the European Commission demanding more transparency from chemical suppliers.

The letter, also signed by the ChemSec NGO, Co-op, Tarkett, Shaw, Seventh Generation and EurEau, urges the commission to "examine how to best incentivise chemical suppliers to share full information on chemical content and hazardous properties".

It calls for chemical manufacturers to be made to produce more detailed information on the contents of their products in the safety data sheets (SDS) which they are required to provide under the EU's REACH regulations.
