GENEVA – Better Cotton has revealed that its brand and retail partners sourced 2.5 million tonnes of its ‘sustainable’ material in 2021, a new record for the initiative.
It marks a 47 per cent increase on 2020 volumes, which was in itself a previous record, and is demonstrative of the industry’s appetite for more sustainable cotton.
Lena Staafgard, Better Cotton’s chief operating officer, said: “The results we see at Better Cotton strengthen our conviction that we, and our members and partners are well placed to continue supporting cotton communities to survive and thrive while protecting and restoring the environment."
