BANGKOK – Lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret has confirmed that it arranged the finance which enabled a US$8.3 million payment to 1,388 former garment workers resolving a long-running dispute in Thailand.

Owners of the Brilliant Alliance Thai Global (BAT) factory finally agreed to pay the money owed to the workers following a 13 month campaign by the Triumph International Thailand Labour Union (TITLU).

The Solidarity Center and the Worker Rights Consortium (WRC) first revealed that a decision by Victoria’s Secret to finance the payments, via a loan arrangement with BAT, enabled the “historic” pay-out.
