COLOMBO - Former garment makers in Sri Lanka are reportedly turning to prostitution to feed their families as the country's economic crisis continues to devastate the once booming industry.

Sri Lanka's Joint Apparel Association Forum trade body this week revealed that the country was losing 10-20 per cent of its orders to India and Bangladesh as the ongoing crisis has shaken the faith of buyers.

Sri Lanka is on the verge of total collapse with chronic nationwide shortages of food, medicines and fuel sparking fears that deadly violence could break out at any moment.
