LEICESTER – Authorities in Leicester have welcomed the formation of a new Apparel and Textile Manufacturers Federation (ATMF) which will serve as a “voice for suppliers”.
It’s one of many initiatives and activities underway within the city to improve the sector’s standards and its reputation, which was tarnished after some factories were found to be paying staff less than half the UK’s minimum wage.
“We already have the backing of a large number of businesses from across the supply chain, so we know there is a very real need to create a strong supplier voice,” said Sajjad Khan, the new federation’s founder. “The ATMF aims to promote ‘Brand Leicester’ within the ‘Made in UK’ umbrella.”
