WASHINGTON – Apparel manufacturing group Crystal International has teamed up with environmental non-profit EarthDay to support its reforestation efforts.
Through the NGO’s Canopy Project, Crystal will finance the planting of 100,000 mangroves along the villages of Banishanta, in Bangladesh, which neighbour the largest mangrove forest in the world, the Sundarbans.
“Mangroves sequester roughly two to four times the amount of carbon when compared to a mature tropical forest, helping to improve air quality and lessen the environmental footprint of those living in the area," said Kathleen Rogers, president of EarthDay.
