DHAKA - Factory owners in Bangladesh have signed a deal to use the Fair Wear Foundation's Fair Price app which is designed to help negotiate prices with buyers which allow for the payment of a fair wage to garment workers.
The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) trade body and the Sustainable Textile Initiative: Together for Change (STITCH) initiative agreed to introduce the app at BKMEA member factories.
The Fair Price app aims to facilitate fact-based costing and shared responsibility between buyers and suppliers to ensure prices cover all labour expenses, based on the current legal minimum wage or the living wage.
