KARACHI - Workers' rights campaigners are calling for plans to expand the International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry to Pakistan to be sped up on the back of new accident figures.
 
The Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) released figures claiming that some 15 workers were killed in accidents at garment and textile factories in Pakistan between January 2021 and January this year.
 
CCC also reports more than three dozen fatal, or potentially fatal, safety incidents at factories which supply leading brands including Gap, Levi’s, Adidas, Bestseller, C&A, Esprit, G-Star, H&M, Inditex, Lindex, Lidl, Mango, Primark, Puma, New Look, Next, PVH and Tchibo.
