MÖNCHENGLADBACH – Portuguese textile supplier Valérius 360 has teamed up with German spinning technology company Trützschler to improve the quality of recycled cotton yarns made from 50:50 recycled and virgin cotton.

Using cotton waste from the spinning and knitting operations of Valérius in Barcelo, Portugal, technicians found that using a direct spinning process delivered much better recycled yarn quality than using a draw frame passage for rotor spun yarns.

Yarn breaks were reduced by up to one-third and a reduction in energy use was also noted.
