BONN – Members of the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action met last week in Germany to discuss how to work together to drive down emissions in the fashion sector – which is proving to be a huge challenge.

Speaking at the two-day meeting, Simon Stiell, UN climate change executive secretary, said that although some progress has been made – such as complying with basic reporting requirements, disclosing more climate-related information and collaboration – the sector still has a long way to go. “It’s good – but it’s not good enough,” said Stiell. “After five years the fashion industry simply isn’t at the point where we can say that it is truly changing, and implementation is truly happening.
