SEATTLE – Leading outdoor retailer REI has announced it is to ban per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from all textile products.

The ban, which also affects cookware products, comes in a major update to REI's 'Product Impact Standards' for its 1,000+ brand partners.

The PFAS ban will take effect in the autumn of 2024 for most products, including apparel, accessories, footwear, packs and bags.
