LUGANO – A joint venture between chemical recycling specialist Gr3n and one of its major shareholders is aiming to scale up its microwave-assisted depolymerisation technology which can be used to recycle textile waste and other hard-to-recycle PET products.
The company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Intecsa Industrial to set up a joint venture that is capable of producing 40,000 tons of virgin-like PET per year. Construction of the first industrial-scale plant is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024 with the site aiming to be operational by 2027.
