MEMPHIS - The US Cotton Trust Protocol has appointed certification body Averum to provide additional third-party verification for its voluntary farm-level sustainability programme.
The trust protocol claims to be the only system that provides verifiable goals to drive improvement in six key impact areas - land use, soil carbon, water management, soil loss, GHG emissions and energy efficiency.
The appointment of Averum, a subsidiary of food and agriculture business consulting and accounting firm Pinion, comes as the trust protocol announces a 120% increase in enrolment since launch three years ago.
