JYVÄSKYLÄ / STOCKHOLM – Finnish cellulosic fibre manufacturer Spinnova and Swedish textile recycler Renewcell are working together in a bid to commercialise and scale textile waste-based fibre.
The collaboration combines the patented technologies of both companies which say they have already produced prototypes, with the first consumer products potentially available by the end of 2024.
Renewcell transforms pre- and post-consumer textile waste, such as cotton and viscose, into a pulp product called Circulose. Spinnova makes textile fibre out of textile and agricultural waste without the use of potentially harmful chemicals.
