BRUSSELS - The Euratex textile industry trade body and the Spanish Intertextile Council (CIE) have issued a joint call on the European Union (EU) to put textiles at the heart of a sustainable manufacturing industry.
Euratex president Alberto Paccanelli and CIE president Jose Vte Serna called on EU leaders to bring together trade, energy, state aid and sustainability policies to support a robust and modern European manufacturing industry.
As a first step, they wanted the textiles and clothing industry to be included within the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA) which aims to strengthen Europe's net-zero technology industry.
