DHAKA - Textile workers in Bangladesh have been promised a pay rise following reports of vandalism in factories by disgruntled employees struggling to make ends meet.

They point out that garment workers were awarded a 56% increase from the start of December, taking their minimum wage from BDT 8,000 ($75) a month to BDT 12,500 ($114).
