LUDWIGSHAFEN - Chemical giant BASF says it is to divest stakes in two joint ventures in the Xinjiang region of China, amid concerns over humans rights violations and carbon emissions.

BASF said it would be exiting its partnerships with BASF Markor Chemical Manufacturing (Xinjiang) and Markor Meiou Chemical (Xinojiang), both of which supply the company with 1,4 butanediol (BDO), a precursor for elastane fibres.
