PORTLAND – At least 35 US states are set to consider further restrictions on the use of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) this year, according to analysis by the Safer States alliance of environmental health bodies.
PFAS – dubbed “forever chemicals” for their durability in the environment – are used in water- and stain-proof coatings for garments and have been linked with serious health concerns including liver damage, thyroid disease and cancer.
