WASHINGTON DC / TOKYO - Forced labour in the Xinjiang region was a major focus of the first round of talks between the US and Japan on the implementation of a joint task force on workers' rights in supply chains.

Launched last year, the US-Japan Task Force on the Promotion of Human Rights and International Labor Standards in Supply Chains aims to protect human and labour rights through trade policy.
