JOHANNESBURG – South African pulp and paper company Sappi has partnered with UK materials innovator Biophilica on the latter’s ‘Treekind’ leather alternative.
Biophilica has formulated the compostable, plastic-free leather alternative with lignocellulose from leaves and a natural binder, which is designed to break down in soil or water.
