DHAKA - Many garment factories and textile mills in Bangladesh have temporarily closed their gates due to ongoing violent protests which have led Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resign and flee the country.

About 250 people have so far been killed and thousands injured in a crackdown on demonstrations which began as student protests against job quotas but quickly escalated into a nationwide movement for change.
