TAMPA - With the textile industry responsible for over 2% of global greenhouse gas emissions and production rates increasing in many countries, there is a need to adopt cleaner, more efficient, and low-carbon technologies to mitigate climate impacts, a new report suggests.
Commissioned by the Apparel Impact Institute and authored by Global Efficiency Intelligence, the report focuses on the feasibility, challenges, and potential of transitioning to low-carbon heating technologies in the textile industry, assessing solar thermal; electrification (including electric boilers, heat pumps, and thermal energy storage); and sustainable biomass.
