Scientists say they have engineered an enzyme which can efficiently recycle PET at low temperatures to make new synthetic fibres

DAEGU - Scientists in South Korea say they have developed an enzyme able to efficiently recycling polyethylene terephthalate (PET) at low temperatures to make new synthetic fibres and other plastics.

Researchers at Kyungpook National University (KNU) say the enzyme - called Kubu-PM12 - achieves excellent performance under industrial conditions and even high activity at lower temperatures.
