Avantium says it has made a major breakthrough in the recycling of poly-cotton textile waste.
Renewable chemistry specialist Avantium has developed a new chemical recycling system for poly-cotton waste textiles.
Developed in collaboration with the ‘Industrial Sustainable Chemistry’ group at the University of Amsterdam, the patented technology claims to break down the cotton in polycotton fabric into glucose using hydrochloric acid, while leaving the polyester intact.
