How climate change will impact workers

With COP29 ending on a disappointing note last November, extreme heat and weather are going to be with us for some time yet. Many cotton-growing countries were hit by climate-related events in 2024 - including drought, extreme rainfall, extreme heat, storm and wildfire - as illustrated by World Weather Attribution.

Spain’s decision to potentially introduce payments for people not to work during extreme weather is interesting, with the goal being to avoid increased risk to life during climate events, and reduce pressure on infrastructure and services.
