University researchers win philanthropic backing for three year project to develop more sustainable and cheaper dyes

COIMBRA - The University of Coimbra (UC) in Portugal has launched a project to make textile dyeing more cost-effective and sustainable with the backing of €1.4 million ($1.5m) in funding from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The project, called DyeLoop – Circular Technologies for Textile Dyeing, aims to use circular economy technologies to reuse dyes and significantly reduce water and energy consumption.
