Key proposed legislation looks a tall order

California AB 405 Fashion Environmental Accountability Act was introduced with a great fanfare in February 2025. It’s currently awaiting committee review, with industry stakeholders watching on excitedly or anxiously, depending on their viewpoint.

Ostensibly a copy-and-paste of the New York Fashion Act, which also remains un-passed, it is quite possibly the most demanding set of requirements that many brands will have faced if it passes into law.
