Walmart Foundation offers LCA research grant

The Walmart Foundation, the retail giant’s philanthropic arm, has donated $350,000 to researchers at the Wilson College of Textiles and the North Carolina Textile Innovation and Sustainability Engine (the Textile Engine) to support research into life cycle assessments (LCAs) for yarns made from both new and recycled fibres.

The grant will be used to develop an open-source database featuring the research team’s LCA findings, which can then be used by the textile firms without extensive research resources to access high-quality data on the environmental impacts of various raw materials.
