Research explores high-end yarn from low-grade wool

Australian fashion brand Country Road has partnered with team of researchers at the Deakin’s Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) to trial a fully domestic process to transform low-grade Merino wool into high-value yarn.

Carried out in collaboration with local textile manufacturer, Loomtex, the ‘Mud to Marle’ project is demonstrating how low-value wool can be spun into a cotton blend, fine gauge yarn for use in the apparel sector.
