Child labour risks in India’s textile industry

HYDERABAD - Girls as young as 12 are being drawn into India's textile and garment industry, often working up to 16 hours a day in poor conditions to supplement family income, according to a new study.

The study, entitled 'Prevalence of girl child labour in the Indian textile industry', was commissioned by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and conducted by the Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE).
