Apparel imports from China to the US reportedly plummeted in May 2025 to their lowest monthly level since 2003, as sharply increased tariffs under President Trump’s administration reshaped global sourcing strategies.
US International Trade Commission data show that imports fell to $556 million in May, reports Reuters, down from $796 million in April, marking the fourth consecutive month of declines and a dramatic drop from the $1.69 billion peak in January, when retailers rushed to stock up before tariffs took effect.
