Textile bodies urge caution on ESPR rules

Leading textile industry groups have issued a joint call to the European Commission, urging caution on proposed textile chemical regulation as the bloc finalises its Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

The group, which includes bodies such as AFIRM, Euratex, ETAD, and the International Apparel Federation recommends the Commission avoids “overregulation”, harmonises the digital data gathering process for substances of concern (SoCs), and ensure that ESPR’s implementation reduces bureaucracy and legal uncertainty.
