US trade bodies collaborate on EPR compliance

A group of major retail, apparel, and footwear associations have come together to create a producer responsibility organisation aimed at ensuring that apparel and textiles are diverted from landfill in California.

The memorandum of understanding between the California Retailers Association, the American Apparel & Footwear Association and the National Retail Federation, will establish an independent, 501(c)(3) organisation that will collect, repair, reuse and recycle materials after use in compliance with California’s landmark extended producer responsibility legislation.
