US trade body says allowing trade preference agreements with Africa and Haiti to expire will damage textile industry at home and overseas
WASHINGTON DC - The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has expressed "deep disappointment" that US trade deals which supported textile and garment exporters across Africa and in Haiti have been allowed to lapse.
The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), the Haitian Hemispheric Opportunity through Partnership Encouragement (HOPE) Act and the Haiti Economic Lift Program (HELP) Act all expired this week.
