Under the theme of Shifting Landscapes, the 2025 Textile Exchange Conference taking place October 14-17 in Lisbon, Portugal, will see brands, supply system partners, innovators, farmers, non-profit organizations, and academics gather for three days of curated, collective learning.

Hyosung TNC, a leading supplier of complete sustainable solutions and a Textile Exchange Partner-level Member, will again be an exhibitor at this year’s conference. Simon Whitmarsh-Knight, Hyosung TNC’s global sustainability director – gives us insight as to how its range of regen™ recycled, bio-based and textile-to-textile fibre solutions can help value chain partners meet their environmental impact goals.

Please share a few details about the sustainable fibre solutions you will be presenting at Conference.
We’ll be highlighting our expanded regen™ BIO Elastane range partly made from renewable content and inform attendees on the transition of the fibre’s feedstock from corn to sugarcane, which enables lower carbon emissions without sacrificing performance.

Hyosung announced its partnership with sustainable materials leader, Geno, to produce Bio-BDO derived from sugarcane, powered by Geno’s proprietary BDO technology, at its Vietnam plant. This initiative is under development, with the potential of producing up to 50,000 tons of bio-BDO by the end of 2026.

This marks the first time the industry will have an integrated supply of bio-based elastane in one region, from raw material to fiber allowing for faster market delivery, shorter development times, and a stronger supply chain for partners.

Will the new regen BIO Elastane be certified?
Yes, we have joined the VIVE Programme to ensure full traceability and transparency from sugarcane farms to fibre production.

What are your most recent textile-to-textile recycled developments?
Recently we were proud to announce a strategic alliance with Loop Industries to expand access to circular polyester through textile-to-textile supply chains. This alliance combines Loop’s Infinite Loop™ depolymerization technology and Hyosung TNC’s industry-leading expertise in advanced textile materials to help brands transition from fossil-fuel and bottle-based polyester, to next-generation circular materials.

Loop transforms low-value textile waste into Twist™—its branded polyester resin that is 100% recycled, fully traceable, and specifically designed for the textile industry—delivering virgin-quality performance with a significantly reduced environmental footprint. Hyosung TNC then converts this material into performance yarns under its regen™ brand portfolio, trusted by leading brands across fashion, activewear, and other textile markets.

What do you believe is Hyosung’s unique position in the textile marketplace?
While the industry is still deciding which route to take with regards to its sustainability approach – recycled, bio-based or T2T – Hyosung is in a unique position to offer these solutions across our elastane, nylon and polyester fibres. Our global manufacturing footprint also provides customers flexibility in today’s dynamic sourcing environment.
