Global coalition cites ‘serious concern’ over UNEP textile research

Open letter signed by senior industry figures calls for significant changes to UNEP’s Circularity and Used Textile Trade Project

GLOBAL – A group of 16 industry leaders, policymakers and academic experts have called on the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to improve transparency, data integrity and inclusivity in its Circularity and Used Textile Trade Project.

In an open letter, the signatories – who include senior figures from across the global textiles collection, reuse and recycling industries – express “serious concern” over the project, which seeks to establish global guidelines to distinguish used textiles from textile waste.
