Global Standard says updated strategy offers chance to put natural fibres at the heart of the transition away from fossil fuel-based textiles
STUTTGART - Global Standard, the NGO behind the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), has welcomed the European Union's (EU) new Bioeconomy Strategy as a chance to put organic natural fibres at the heart of Europe’s shift away from fossil-based textiles.
The updated EU Bioeconomy Strategy, adopted this week by the European Commission, calls for a competitive, more circular and decarbonised economy built on renewable biomaterials rather than fossil-based resources.
